Keeping Up With The Joneses
It seems like every holiday season, the video game loving masses are (as prophesied and expected) overwhelmed by the sheer quantity and quality of new games released. It’s as if the Gods of Gaming have descended from their mighty thrones and blessed us—the blistery fingered peasants, with a bountiful harvest of shiny discs and digital goods. At least, it would feel that way if it not for the massive financial drain attached to the blessed event. Even with Black Friday, a variety of holiday specials and various price reductions, many of us will be hard pressed to buy even a couple of the games from our wish lists.
This year more than most, the holiday releases have been extraordinarily well received by fans and reviewers alike. Even with a slew of highly anticipated games like Bioshock Infinite slipping into next year’s release calendar, we are still knee deep what has turned out to be another banner year for gaming. No matter what your favorite platform, there is something worth playing out now or available soon and hey, If none of the current platforms are your speed, then maybe a new console, like Wii U will be your answer.
I’m doing my best to play as many games as possible, but like many of you I’m sure—time, money and daylight all seem to be in very short supply lately.
